WordPress is a popular platform for websites and blogging with good reason. WordPress can be themed to look stylish and has a wealth of additional functionality available at little or no cost, making it an ideal choice for a small business. Unlike some other platforms it is easy enough for a non-technical person to use. This means you can maintain your own site rather than relying on expensive IT support.
This workshop will show you how to start building your own WordPress website.
Building WordPress Websites
Creating content and images is the first step in building your own website. That is covered in our "Introduction to WordPress" workshop. This one delves deeper into the subject. It is split into two parts. The first part covers:
- Styling your site: selecting and configuring themes
- Adding useful features with plugins, including calendars, forms and testimonials
- Creating menus and alternative forms of navigation around your site
- Tips and tricks to make your life easier
The second part is an "ask the expert" session where you can get help with your own website or answers to specific queries you may have.
The workshop will be hands-on, so please bring a laptop (or tablet suitable for creating and editing text) . We will work on a training site, so you can practice your skills without the risk of breaking your own website.
Who should attend?
The workshop is suitable for anyone who has used WordPress and wants to expand their knowledge further.
