About this event

Building our personal resilience skills

Resilience is an ability that we are born with, but it is also a skill we can learn in order to thrive. This two-and-a-half-hour workshop, aimed at front line workers and support staff and volunteers in the charity sector, will help build personal resilience and improve our responses to unexpected challenges.

We will look at what we mean by resilience and the variables that contribute to an individual’s resilience. By breaking down the attributes of resilience we can see how important it is to find our own coping mechanisms and overcome hurdles.

This interactive workshop will also:

  • Introduce emotional intelligence and how this links to resilience
  • Identify unhelpful thinking styles, in particular the ones that affect our resilience, and how these can get in our way
  • Discuss the role of positive emotions, in particular gratitude
  • Explore the skills that contribute to resilience and how these relate to the skills needed for front line workers

This course has been developed by Richmond Borough Mind for Wandsworth Council.
