Event description
Get organised and creative with a fun bullet journal workshop - great for stationery-lovers!

About this Event

The Bullet Journal is an analogue organisation system in a digital world. It helps me track the past, organise the present and plan for the future. If, like me, you're fed up with apps, bits of paper everywhere and general chaos, this is the system for you. It can be your to-do list, sketchbook, notebook, ideas hub, and calendar – or all of these things and more, in just one place! It's creative, helps me focus and it has changed my life (seriously!). It’s a real complement to busy, tech-filled lives, enhancing well-being.

At the workshop, I will tell you all about what a Bullet Journal is, how it can be used, and show you some examples. You will then have the opportunity to have some fun getting started on your own journal. It's a really fun morning! The cost of the workshop includes your Bullet Journal, a selection of creative materials to use during the session, and refreshments.

A bullet journal is more than just a notebook: it offers a methodology to promote mindfulness, productivity and organisation.

It can help me stay organised and on-schedule, as well being as a pathway to a more meaningful and constructive life. Using tools like indexing, list-making and future logs, and by encouraging creativity and artistry, I learnt how to keep tasks and plans clear and concise, leaving my mind free to focus and engage with the world more meaningfully.

According to neuroscientists, a bullet journal helps externalise thoughts. This frees up mental space to think more clearly and concentrate better. I don’t waste valuable time and energy remembering everything. Instead, my life is captured on the pages of my journal. This allows me to be more present and at ease in the moment without worrying that I’m forgetting something.

Analogue productivity methods like bullet journaling have another advantage over digital tools: better retention. Writing by hand engages multiple senses — visual, kinaesthetic, and tactical — which helps commit tasks to memory. It also signals to my brain that your goals are important, making me more likely to follow through.

Psychologically-speaking, bullet journaling is more powerful than other paper-planning methods because it’s also a life record. It’s a place where I can reflect on accomplishments as well as things that didn’t go to plan. Research shows that taking time to self-reflect, appreciate what’s going well, and create a vision for my future can boost well-being. It helps me see how far I have come and how much more progress I can make, which appeals to my solutions-focused mindset.

It’s vital to remember that bullet journaling is never about being perfect or working just to stay busy. Fundamentally, journaling is about finding calm amidst overwhelm, focusing on doing work that matters, and creating my life on my own terms.

For me, one of the most crucial things about the bullet journal is to create a refuge away from screens and the time-suck of social media. This peace of mind is really precious in the age of information overload, where it can feel like a chore to keep up with everything online.

You might like to bring any other diaries or planners you are already using. Also, bring along anything else you might want to include - to-do lists / photos / images / anything creative. I provide lots of tape / pens / magazines / stickers and other bits for you to use on the day, so there's no obligation to bring anything in particular, more an extra if you have anything you want to incorporate.
