About this event

  • 4 hours

Did you know there are 27 different bumblebee species in the UK – each with its own unique pattern and lifestyle? Or that there are over 250 different species of wild, solitary bees too? Come and learn all about them!

The day will begin with a presentation introducing you to the wonderful world of wild British bees: their ecology, diversity, and how to identify them. There will then be an opportunity to try your hand at identifying bees up close in the classroom, with the aid of pinned specimens and other resources.

Following a break for lunch we will dive into bumblebee identification, with a talk covering all 27 species found in the UK, focusing on those found here in Warwickshire. Afterwards, enjoy a guided walk around the park’s bee hotspots to see what we can find!

This event is suitable for all abilities - from complete beginners to eager improvers. This event is not aimed towards children; however, it is open to all ages with parental discretion.

Refreshments (hot drinks and snacks) will be provided throughout the day, but please bring your own lunch.
