Event description
Tessa Bide Productions Presents a workshop introducing you to buraku/ table top puppetry techniques.

About this Event

We're thrilled to offer a series of workshops for children and adults while we're in lockdown which focus on building theatre skills!

We are pleased to be able to offer these for free but ask that if you are able to, you make a small donation so that we can get back to visiting theatres, village halls and outdoor spaces as soon as it is safe to do so after the lockdown.

We suggest a donation of £5 but any support you can offer at this time is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our bunraku/table top puppetry workshop. In this workshop, you will learn how to bring a human-shaped puppet to life in a group of 2 or 3, like traditional Japanese bunraku puppeteers.

It is suitable for adults and children aged 7+ and you will some a tea towel and tea cup or small mug, and a puppet made in our Make Your Own Puppet Workshop.

We advise you to do some team building exercises together before starting this workshop. Exercises like flocking (instructions here: and mirroring, as well as traditional team-building theatre games.

Tessa has been puppeteering for 10 years and has worked all over the world. She has worked and trained with various companies including Little Angel Theatre, Blind Summit (Olympic opening ceremony 2012) and Mervyn Miller - Puppetry Director of War Horse.
