Think Dragon’s Den, but with fewer millionaires, more soup and a room full of local heroes. That’s Burgess Hill Soup - a community-powered evening of ideas, laughter, lentils and the occasional raffle win.
Burgess Hill Soup is the ultimate culinary-meets-community event and a delicious way to change the world. Bringing together good people, good ideas and letting the audience decide who gets the cash. Think of it as community with carrots & croutons.
Come and join us…. you might meet like-minded people or discover a project you’re passionate about - one you’d like to support and get involved in by making an additional donation, offering your skills, giving equipment, space, volunteering…
Here’s how it simmers down:
6.15pm: Doors open at the Cherry Tree Centre
- 6.45pm: Four brave local souls pitch for their grassroots projects - 5 minutes each, no PowerPoint required. Questions from the audience are encouraged.
- 7.30pm: Soup’s on! Four hearty, homemade soups crafted from surplus food - veggie, vegan, gluten-free – we’ve got you covered. It’s potluck too, so bring something to share if you fancy, and yes, you’re absolutely allowed to bring your own snacks and wine.
- Throughout: Mingle, natter, debate who gets your vote. Pitchers will circulate – think speed dating but with more chickpeas.
- Entertainment: A local musician will provide the intermission tunes.
- The Big Vote & Raffle Draw: Cast your ballot. Cross your fingers. Win a prize.
- 8.30pm: And the winner is…the project with the most votes. They receive all the night’s ticket sales and donations.
