Event description
From the ardent expressions for Jean Armour, to lingering sentiment for his lost loves, Robert Burns time in Dumfries was a productive one.

About this event

Rescheduled!

Burns wrote his most famous love songs after his move to Ellisland with his new bride Jean Armour in 1788. From ardent expressions for Jean, to lingering sentiment for his lost loves Highland Mary, Clarinda, and a passionate affair with Helen Park, this was a colourful and productive time. It was also controversial. Dr Pauline MacKay of the Centre for Robert Burns studies at Glasgow University offers a unique insight for the wedding season.
