Join us at Histon Methodist Church for a fascinating event exploring Burwell and its morphology.

The development of most settlements is complex. In the distant past, there were no planning application processes and the rules that did exist were often poorly enforced. As a result, towns and villages grew and changed over time to meet the changing needs of the community or as a result of disasters. It is possible to unpick the process of settlement development through archaeology, historical records and by examining what remains. In this talk, William Franklin will use the example of Burwell, a fen edge village, and explore how it developed from the early medieval period up to circa 1900.
