An Evening with Rafeef Ziadah

Her tour of New Zealand marks the release of her new album We Teach Life. Concert starts at 6pm at the Dorothy Winstone Centre (Girls Grammar) and concludes about 8pm. Your ticket includes transport and entry into the concert. See below for details including where the Hamilton bus departs.

NOTE: If you intend to use your own transport, please buy a ‘Just-the-concert-only’ Ticket ($20/$30) from the NZ Palestine Solidarity Network Eventbrite site

MORE ABOUT Rafeef Ziadah

Rafeef Ziadah is a Palestinian performance poet and human rights activist based in London. Her performance of her poems, “We Teach Life Sir’ and “Shade of Anger” went viral online within days of their release.

Says Ken Loach “Rafeef’s poetry demands to be heard. She is powerful, emotional and political.”

The evening will also feature a selection of several poems by Auckland’s emerging voice, poet Mohamed Hassan, as well as a captivating performance of Dabke (Palestinian dance). The event is hosted by NZ Palestine Solidarity Network.

It is strongly recommended that you pack some food to take with you on the bus as there may not be time to buy food from the local shops as the concert starts at 6pm. Eating on the bus is allowed, but we ask that you bring only bottled water to drink (spillage stains could prevent the refund of our bond).

Your bus will depart 3:30pm sharp from St. Columba church parking lot 50 Rifle Range Road, Frankton, Hamilton. Boarding starts at 3:15pm and you must present your PRINTED ticket (and concession ID for unwaged tickets).

The bus will return to 50 Rifle Range Road by 10pm.

PHRCW is grateful to Kia Ora Gaza for the generous bus subsidy. A koha collection will be taken up at the end of the concert to enable Kia Ora Gaza and NZ Palestine Solidary Network to continue their important work.

QUERIES? Email The PHRCW (Palestine Human Rights Campaign Waikato) administrator will be in touch with you. For faster contact, include your phone number.

I understand Rafeef Ziadah’s new CD’s “We Teach Life” will be available for sale—will there be EFPTOS or do I need to bring cash?

Organisers are attempting to make provision for Eftpos but be safe and bring cash.

What will my seating at the venue be like?

The Dorothy Winstone Centre is a premium venue. Seats are upholstered and are ‘on the rise’ so the view of the stage is unobstructed. A centre front section will be roped off, reserved for Waikato people holding a ‘Bus-Concert Package’ ticket.

Who qualifies for an 'un-waged' ticket?

Holders of Student ID, Community card or Gold card. You will be asked to present this 'concession ID' along with your printed ticket at bus boarding time.

I have friends and family who do not live near Auckland. Will Rafeef Ziadah be performing anywhere else in NZ?
