Description

Is your business truly sustainable? inclusive? ethical?

Want to find out more about how your business can not just strive to be the best in the world but the best for the world?

Christian Aid and the GMCC invite you to join them for breakfast and an opportunity to explore how you can be supported to develop a more values based business which has human flourishing and care for creation at it’s heart. This event will mark the launch of a new Christian business network in the NW, Salt, and also a series of training events which will be hosted by the Chambers which aim to support business leaders to develop more ethical, sustainable and inclusive practices.

Speakers:

  • Paul Gerrard (Director, Group Policy & Campaigns, The Co-operative Group). After twenty years in the Civil Service, Mr Gerrard has been Policy and Campaigns Director at the world’s oldest co-operative business, the Co-op, since 2016 and leads their campaigning work including on supporting survivors of slavery, which was recognised by the Stop Slavery award last year, and tackling loneliness.

  • Jody Wainwright (Director, Boodles). Jody left school at 19 and shortly after this had a life changing conversion to the Christian faith, whilst training to be an army officer. Following 4 years as a youth pastor, he went into his family business as the 6th generation, where he now heads up the diamond purchasing and production department, along with directing other aspects of the business.

Sophi Tranchell, Group CEO Divine Chocolate, and Salt Member, said ‘Bringing together business people who recognise the opportunity business has to address both the causes and outcomes of poverty, and share their experiences and learn from each other, has powerful potential and could be a real catalyst for change.’

Christian Aid is working to eradicate poverty across the world, and is coming up with some innovative ways to do just that. We are inviting business leaders to work with us, and with each other, to tackle global poverty. The new Salt Business Network is open to anyone who owns a business, or is in a senior management position within a commercial organisation. It is for leaders who want to join a movement of like-minded people, who will learn about putting in place more responsible business practices, and about sustainable development, through the lens of faith.
