Exchange ideas at The Ideas Exchange
During lockdown & post-lockdown the challenges facing business owners have taken on a new dimension. In many cases sanity-&-solvency sit under a cloak of uncertainty, which can dampen creativity and seriously zap energy. One way to replenish both is with a shot of creative thinking from a community of energetic like-minds. The Ideas Exchange is a programme made up of monthly Business Boosters that covers a raft of topical topics relevant to everyone in the room. From sources of business support and finding ways to inject cash into the pot through to the art of virtual marketing and joining the dots across all the social media channels. The goal of each power-hour is to exchange ideas in order to arrive at a set of practical-&-actionable steps that will make a short term difference today and go towards a longer term impact tomorrow. Virtual Business Boosters boost businesses. They are a monthly injection of insight-&-direction to help-&-support Sisters while they #getreadytobeready for The New Economy by embracing The Economy of Sisterliness.
March's Business Booster : Soft Power Challenge
The future is female . A phrase that originated in New York in the 70s. Today it's a hashtag. A popular Tee-shirt & sweat-shirt slogan, blog-&-vlog inspiration and rallying cry for ' sheroes & heroes' of the soft power generation. In business soft power is the application of emotional intelligence. It's having the agility-&-ability to influence and engage others through communication, persuasion, charisma and charm. And is high on the agenda during the month of March, which highlights and acknowledges the potency of #Girlhood #Womanhood and #Sisterhood. It's a month that celebrate women's achievement, raises awareness against bias and continues to make a case for equality across the board. Women's History Month provides the back drop. International Women's Day (IWD) the stage for a global campaign, with a rallying theme, that encourages action all year long. The 2021 IWD clarion call is #ChooseToChallenge. So let's all choose to challenge. Something. In some way. That makes a difference. Book March’s Business Booster and be inspired by fellow Sisters on ways to keep the #ChooseToChallenge flame alive. This event is exclusively for members only

Zoomsters Virtual Etiquette Guide
Zoom security : As a result of Zoom tightening up their online security all attendees must first enter the waiting room and be invited into the event by the host. The waiting room will be open 15 minutes before the start of the event. Tick-tock-time-keeping : Be respectful of fellow Sisters by zooming in on time. Ideally be early so you have a chance to say hello & catch up before the #businessbooster starts.Online vs on-the-move : Be present at your desk (and not on the move in a car or at the check-out at the supermarket) for the duration of the zoom and don't do a disappearing act before the session has finished. If you have to leave unexpectedly be polite and use the chat to make your apologies. Start-&-finish : Set an alarm for 08:00. Then there's plenty of time to nip to the loo, make a cuppa, stroke the dog & put some lippy on. Zoom-in promptly for the session. The waiting room opens at 08:15 and the Business Booster starts at 08:30 on the dot. And unless you've left the iron on don't vanish unexpectedly. Remember to sign out or leave the meeting when the session is finished. No show on the day : If you can't make it please be gracious-&-respectful and let us know by sending Hela a quick text on 07714 218699 so she knows not to expect you. No admission : To prevent disruption to the #businessbooster the Zoom Room will be locked at 08:40. Present-&-correct : As #lockdown means we're only see a few faces on a daily basis - the Business Boosters are perfect to feel part of the clan. Keep your video on live so there's a full house of familiar faces to kick off the day. However, if you're having a bad hair day - no problem - as you can be hidden, listen and still feel part of the Tribe.Shadows-&-halos : Avoid back lights from bright windows and make sure you have good lighting on your face so you can be seen clearly. The right angle : Adjust your camera to be at around eye level & take note of the angle of your laptop screen if using the built-in camera.Optimise the experience : Shut down applications on your computer to keep the video optimally functioning & use a headset with an external mic for best hearing and speaking capabilities.Snacking-&-slurping : Bring a cuppa but keep the snacks in the snack tin.One at a time : Mute the microphone when you're not speaking & avoid talking over others (lower left corner of the screen) If you want to speak, put your hand up use the raise hand feature that is available at the bottom centre of your screen.Delicious distractions : Bring a notebook to jot down words of wisdom, #ahamoments and questions but don't start on the shopping list or answer emails or send texts.Question time : Use the chat to share questions.Address the Sisters : When you're speaking or presenting look into the camera & avoid the floor.Pets : Animals keep us human so well behaved pets welcome. Parrots, parakeets, mynah birds or budgies however may be overly noisy.Social sharing & storytelling : Make sure you're following all Sisters attending.
