5.30 pm refreshments and networking, with the event starting promptly at 6 pm and finishing between 7.30 pm and 8 pm

Some people have been conditioned to believe that emotions are not welcome in the workplace and that leadership performance is all about cold, logical, financial understanding and decision-making.  In this lively and interactive session, we will explore how business emotional intelligence has become essential in leadership.  Without it, a person can have the best training in the world; an incisive, analytical mind, and an endless supply of smart ideas, but they still won’t make a great leader.

In conversation with Jane Barry, Chair of the CIPD Portsmouth Group, our speaker Paul Miller will draw on his coaching experiences to share how developing Business Emotional Intelligence has enabled senior leaders in a range of industries to resolve the issues that mattered to them.

Join this session to discover what it means to possess Business Emotional Intelligence; what is meant by intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence, and why having IQ and technical skills are important as entry-level requirements for executive positions.

Our speaker

Paul Miller, Coach, Facilitator and Mentor, The Mental Muscle CompanyPaul’s engaging and authentic approach, and his ability to create rapport, has led to him being trusted by senior leaders of blue chip companies and SMEs to support them with their most challenging leadership issues.  Paul has over twenty years’ experience in people development, coaching and consultancy, and an ability to motivate people at all levels from a wide range of business sectors and cultures across the globe.

Paul has worked with household names such as Prudential, Aviva, Institute of Directors and Lloyds Banking Group, facilitating business improvements through emotional intelligence, leadership and team development.  Paul brings a unique perspective through marrying his work both in the corporate and sporting worlds to develop emotionally intelligent leaders.  He is driven by his commitment to excellence, a passion for personal development and his focus on results.
