Said to hold the oldest excise licence in the City, the original Williamson tavern has a distinguished history. The pub dates from the 17th Century, not long after the Great Fire of London, and was originally a residence for the Lord Mayors of London, and William III and Mary dined there. The Williamson's Tavern is one of many rare gems in the Nicholson's collection of great British pubs, reputed for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.
The Williamson Tavern prides itself on their traditional ales of which they can now select from over 30. At midday, before the lunch, the Williamson Tavern will run an optional tasting of 3 of their ales: the traditional Nicholson's pale ale, used in their delicious pies; Saint Nich, an exclusive St Austell Christmas ale; and an Adnam Brewery special ale. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place at this free pre-event tasting.
