Business Gateshead's networking sessions continue this autumn, with our next event at St Mary's Heritage Centre on Thursday 9th October. Another great opportunity to expand your professional network whilst learning about Gateshead's past, present and future.
As part of this unique networking event, we’ll be joined by the team at Tyne & Wear Building Preservation Trust to talk about the history of St Mary’s Heritage Centre. Nestled on the banks of the River Tyne, this beautifully restored former church is not only a striking architectural landmark but also a site rich in local history.
During the session, we'll be exploring the fascinating past of St Mary’s, from its medieval origins to its role in Gateshead’s community life over the centuries. You’ll hear stories of the people who shaped the area, the building’s transformation through time, and how it came to be the vibrant heritage and events space it is today.
We'll also be joined by Andrew Sloan, Head of Regeneration at Gateshead Council, to talk us through the recently announced Gateshead Regeneration Plan, and proposed developments for the town centre, land around the Metrocentre, the flyover, the Quays, the Old Town Hall, the Railway Quarter, and the Interchange.
