About this event

Are you considering starting your own business? Perhaps you have recently begun your business journey? You might be looking to make an interest a more permanent business fixture in your life, or you wish to pursue a totally new business venture. Whichever applies, if you have not done so yet, a business plan should be a top priority.

Business planning is how you can add structure to your ideas, it will allow you to map out your thinking taking into consideration key aspects of setting-up and running a business.

Some benefits of having a plan

• It’s a valuable tool to help build your business concept before incurring costs

• Assist with identifying strengths and weaknesses which enable you to better assess the viability of your business concept

• It should cover how the new business will be structured, its product/service, target customers and how it can be financed

• You can start off small and build your plan up as more considerations/information becomes available to you

Therefore, a having good plan will greatly assist in establishing a business, which is why as a process it is highly recommended.

In these FREE 45 min one-2-one Zoom sessions, we will explore the method and rationale behind the process of business planning. We will offer tips and practical insights in how you can develop a robust business plan. The session will cover such aspects as:

• What is a business plan & why do I need one?

• What information do I need to complete a business plan?

• How do I overcome information ‘Gaps’?

• What to do next with your business plan . . .

This appointment session will last for about 45 minutes and will be held over Zoom. You will be sent a link to the meeting prior to the day. Sessions are available on multiple dates and multiple times.

ADVISOR

Nigel Lloyd-Jones initially worked for 20 years in various industries, holding a range of management positions within customer service, operations and business development in the UK and international markets. He has now spent another 20 years in business consultancy, which has at times included interim management of an area within a client’s company. In this time he has been involved with a broad range of industries, such as, healthcare, travel, finance, contact centres or IT.

As much as many clients have been large organisations, such as American Express, Easy Jet or GE Healthcare he has also supported smaller businesses from being a concept idea to existing businesses who have been faced with challenges.

He enjoys all aspects of operating a business and what it takes to move a company forward.

To support his interest in business he obtained an MBA via the Open University.

What is your refund policy?

Our events are free, but places are limited and events are usually oversubscribed. Please give two working days’ notice via email if you wish to cancel.

Can I attend if I'm not a member of the library?

Absolutely! Any Bristol based business or person with a business idea is welcome. Though we always recommend joining the library as it's free and will make accessing our databases, books and publications much easier.
