Business Planning Workshop

This one day workshop, led by Kim Ludolf Koch, CEO of Cineplex Deutschland - the biggest brand in the German market - and Jon Barrenechea, Head of Projects and Marketing at Picturehouse Cinemas - the UK’s largest independent cinema group - will focus on the nitty gritty of business planning for independent cinemas. Whether you are just starting out, are planning to expand or want to increase revenues, this workshop will give you the tools to develop a realistic plan and budget model.

- The specificity of the UK Marketplace

You will also have the opportunity to get some one-to-one advice and share experience with Hub Members.

Kim Ludolf Koch
Since 2002 Kim Ludolf Koch has been the CEO of Cineplex Deutschland, an umbrella company for 25 independent exhibitors, which runs 90 cinemas with 530 screens in 68 German cities. With about 20 million admissions, Cineplex is the biggest brand in the German market. The company provides its members with all services they need, such as purchasing goods, on screen advertising, website provision, ticketing system, marketing etc. Koch represents the Company in the board of german exhibition association (HDF - Hauptverband Deutscher Filmtheater) and sits in several commissions like market survey, negotiating terms of agreements between exhibitors and distributors and music rights negotiation group (GEMA).
Previosly, as CEO for RMC Koch was responsible for the consultancy of cinemas (Site analysis for cinema buildings, establishment of business cooperation). In 1994 he established a distant course for Cinema Operators (Der Filmtheaterkaufmann – The Cinema Manager) where young people could learn all the topics to lead a cinema. Koch also made surveys on the European exhibition industry. For years, he was invited as an expert on European cinema conferences, giving presentations to topics like digitalisation, studies on catch rates of international films in European markets, comparative studies on moviegoing. Koch was also responsible for test-screenings especially for German films.
Jon Barrenechea is the Head of Projects and Marketing at Picturehouse Cinemas, the UK’s largest independent cinema group. He sits on the Management Board for Film Hub South East, the Cinecity Brighton Film Festival and speaks on Project Management, Audience Development and Marketing across the UK and abroad.
