The Reinvigorating Direct Payments event series is a partnership between Think Local Act Personal and the Department of Health and Social Care.
For Direct Payments to work, people need to be able to spend them on things they want. At this online event, we’ll explore actions that local authorities can take to help stimulate a thriving marketplace of options.
You will:
- Hear from a Direct Payment recipient about the importance of having local options for things to buy
- Learn from Community Catalysts about their work to stimulate the market in a local authority area
- Hear how this work has impacted on the work of the adult social care team and on the lives of people they support
- Learn about micro-providers – how they operate in a regulated landscape, and how this helps people they support to stay safe
- Discover just what is possible when a council really gets behind this way of working
This event is aimed at:
- Social care practitioners undertaking assessments and creating care and support plans
- People who use Direct Payments
- Social care staff involved in providing support to Direct Payment recipients
- Commissioners
- IT, finance and legal staff in local authorities who work with social care teams promoting Direct Payments
