This course builds upon the legacy of Japanese Butoh dance through somatic dance practice, Tai-ch’i, free improvisation and choreographic experiments. In this physical practice of self-inquiry we focus on a process of ‘attuning’ to what is beyond the limits of the skin and the perceived self: how can we allow our bodies to be danced?

Each class begins with a physical and vocal warm-up followed by dance exercises alone or in groups as well as opportunities to observe others’ work, sharing, performing and short discussions.
