Come and make a butterfly hibernacula to encourage more butterflies to live in your garden and help us make a ‘Wilder Suffolk’. We’ll have everything you need to make your butterfly hibernacula and we’ll help guide you through the process. This event is kindly supported by The Woolpack Pub, and we are excited to host this partnership event together.
This event is an outside event, please dress for the weather. We will be building the butterfly hibernacula outside, but why not pop inside afterwards for a cold drink? Drinks and food are not included in the ticket price.
Tickets are to build one butterfly hibernacula, so if you have two children who want to build one each please purchase two tickets, and so on.
This event is suitable for everyone; families and adults welcome. Please book.
These butterfly hibernacula will be made using local, sustainable wood from Bridge Wood, part of Orwell Country Park in Ipswich. The non-native pine trees in Bridge Wood are gradually being removed in order to replant with native species. This will also open up other areas allowing more light through, benefitting a wealth of different species. The trees have been felled and processed by the Greenways Countryside Project along with volunteers from Ipswich Wildlife Group.
