Bristol VR Lab's sixth Afternoon Seminars event takes place between 1-2:00pm on Wednesday 20th June, 2018.

The theme for this month's event is “Out-of-home/Location-based Entertainment”.

The session will be comprised of talks, some Q&A, and a little time for networking.

'Location-Based VR, and the Commercial Dimension'

With this latest phase of the VR community coming-of-age, and as the dust settles, Kevin Williams - industry specialist on the Out-of-Home entertainment sector, looks at the explosion of interest in VR in a commercial entertainment setting. Charting the rise of VR Arcade, the interest in Location-Based VR, and towards what a future in the commercial entertainment scene could be for the technology, offering his experience in addressing the needs and issues shaping this once overlooked sector.

Kevin Williams, the leading specialist in the international Out-of-Home entertainment sector, founder of the consultancy KWP, working with developers, operators and investors in the field. He also is the publisher of The Stinger Report, covering this fascinating sector. A well known and respected commentator and observer of the industry - especially looking at the latest immersive technology defining this emerging sector. He is the co-author of the book the "Immersive Frontier", working hard with his co-author to complete the second edition of this part-work. Kevin, is also a prolific presenter & writer on the scene, with a column in VRFocus and numerous features in the trade media.

Paul Collimore – Immotion Sales Director

After a successful Senior Management career in Medical Recruitment Paul’s passion for high technology lead to his 2007 appointment as Group Global Sales & Operations Director for Inertial Motion Capture manufacturer Synertial (formally Animazoo Group). Whilst diversifying the companies core technology Paul spearheaded the Animalive division which focussed on interactive out of home experiences for the Themed Attractions industry. At Synertial Paul’s clients included; NASA, Warner Bros, Bourne Leisure, Merlin Entertainments and a host of Family Entertainment Centres and Theme Parks. During his time at Synertial the Animalive brand won 2 IAAPA Best New Product awards for products that Paul co-invented and bought to the market.

At Immotion Paul heads the Commercial strategy focusing on the company's range of VR simulator systems, this includes key contracts with Merlin Entertainments Legoland Discover Centers, Rank Group, and Genting Group.

Bristol VR Lab is located on the first floor of the Leadworks building on Anchor Square. The main entrance is via Bristol Aquarium with a doorbell on the left as you arrive.
