Description

Meet on the National Trust car park, next to The Wizard (SK10 4UB) at 10am. Parking is free for NT members. Spend the morning walking The Legend of Alderley, linking it to Alan Garner's novel The Weirdstone of Brisingamen. Take the paths of Colin and Susan in the novel, Hear readings from the book and personal family stories from Alan's daughter Katharine. Learn about the archaeology and landscape of The Edge from archaeologist Dr. Tim Campbell-Green. The walk will take around 2.5 hours. Average fitness required. Suitable footware/clothing essential. Not suitable for wheelchairs. After the walk we shall travel to The Blackden Trust (8 miles), where a buffet lunch will await you. During the afternnon you will have the opportunity to see objects which have appeared in Alan's books, and enjoy a presentation in the House. This will be a relaxed and informal day spent in two beautiful settings. Only 20 spaces available.
