As part of the Being Human Programme for 2016, The Institute of Historical Research, in collaboration with Historic England and IMLR presents an evening lecture on the history of the British Seaside (1700-2000)

Drawing on the results from a survey conducted on the English beach, Allan Brodie (Historic England) will discuss the fascinating elements of change in relation to class, leisure, trade and economy, architecture and even geography of the British beach.

The lecture will also be accompanied by an exhibition and display exploring the sights, sounds and smells of the beach.

Lecture: 6.00-7.30pm
Reception: 7.30-8.30pm

The lecture is free to attend, but you must register in advance.
