C-Card and Chlamydia Screening Training (Webinar)- Terrence Higgins Trust
Event Information
About this event
PLEASE NOTE: Zoom links for webinars will be sent to delegates the day before the training; or if the webinar is in the evening, at midday the day of.
The c-card scheme is administered by the Youth Team at Terrence Higgins Trust in Suffolk and we provide support to our partner agencies Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
The c-card scheme enables young people aged 13 - 24 to access safer-sex resources, free of charge from a number of outlets across the county.
Any individual registering young people to the c-card scheme must have attended training before they can issue condoms and other safer-sex resources. An organisation may have several c-card trained members of staff (e.g. pharmacies, colleges, schools, hostels, youth clubs) to ensure that condoms and advice can be provided at all times, or a professional who works with young people at various sites (e.g. social workers, young people's workers, community nurse) may choose to register so that they can offer the service via a number of different venues.
What does this half-day workshop cover?
Participants will learn how to:
- Consider safeguarding, Fraser competence and the law with respect to young people
- Discuss issues concerning sexuality and gender
- Register young people to the c-card scheme
- Undertake a condom demonstration with a young person
- Distribute condoms to young people
- Order safer-sex resources
