C3 Safeguarding Training for Clergy including LLMs, Readers & those with PtO (Colchester Archdeaconry)

These training sessions are only suitable for members of the clergy as well as those with PTO, LLMs and Readers and completion of both the Child and Adult safeguarding e-learning modules is a pre-requisite for attending this course.

This is a full day event. Registration is open at 9.00am. Training starts promptly at 9.30am and finishes at 3.30pm. The Trainers will aim to stay until 4pm to answer any queries.

Aims & Objectives:

  • Safeguarding basic awareness refresher.

  • Understanding the complexity of working with children, adults with care & support need & the challenges of the church setting.

  • Assessing risk – in relation to working practices and running activities.

  • Exploring the boundaries of information sharing, confidentiality and consent.

  • Good practice in record keeping.

  • Professional boundaries and behaviours.

  • Procedures for responding to allegations against church officers.

Please Note:

  • If you do not confirm cancellation of your booking 2 working days before the training event you may be charged a £12 cancellation fee.

  • If you are unable to attend and wish for a colleague to come along instead of you this will need to be confirmed with the safeguarding team at least 2 working days before the training event.

  • The minimum number of participants for each group will be 15. In cases where there are fewer than 15 participants the Safeguarding team may cancel this event and give notice to all those who were due to attend. We aim to cancel as few events as possible.

  • The course is interactive – expect to participate in a variety of small group exercises.

  • We are sorry, but this course is not suitable for children or pets.

Is there public transport near the event?

  • Osborne Street (Stop Aa) Bus Stop is a 2 minute walk from the venue.

  • Osborne Street (Stop Ab) Bus Stop is a 2 minute walk from the venue.

  • Colchester Town Train Station is a 2 minute walk from the venue.

Is there car parking near the event?

  • Britannia Car Park will cost around £7.50 and is a 1 minute walk from venue.

  • Osborne Street Car Park will cost around £8.70 and is a 3 minute walk from venue.

  • The traffic system in Colchester town centre has been modified, and the ONLY approach to St Botolph’s, if you are driving, is from the east, via East Hill and Queen Street.

Colchester Park & Ride

  • The Park & Ride is situated just off the A12. Follow the blue signs from junction 28 roundabout. Postcode CO4 5JA.
  • Adult daily: £3 (Monday to Saturday). Concessionary pass holders travel free after 9am Monday-Friday and all day Saturdays. If you have an older person’s bus pass you do not need to use the ticket machines.
  • When you use the Park and Ride for the first time you need to take your pass and vehicle registration details to the help desk in the Park and Ride building to register, which you only need to do once.
  • Buses leave at least every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday from 7am, with bus priority measures along the route and journey times of as little as 12 minutes to the Town Centre.
  • High Street (Stop Fd) is the nearest Park & Ride stop and is an 8 minute walk to the Venue.

Is lunch provided?

  • Refreshments will be provided, but you will need to bring your own lunch.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

  • If you are unable to attend and wish for a colleague to come along instead of you, this will need to be confirmed with the safeguarding team 48 hours before the event by contacting safeguarding@chelmsford.anglican.org or 01245 294438.

What can I do if I am unable to attend this training date?
