Description

C3 Safeguarding Training for Clergy (Stansted Archdeaconry)

These training sessions are only suitable for members of the clergy as well as those with PTO, LLMs and Readers and completion of both the Child and Adult safeguarding e-learning modules is a pre-requisite for attending this course.

This is a full day event. Registration is open at 9.00am. Training starts promptly at 9.30am and finishes at 3.30pm. The Trainers will aim to stay until 4pm to answer any queries.

Aims & Objectives:

  • Safeguarding basic awareness refresher.
  • Understanding the complexity of working with children, adults with care & support need & the challenges of the church setting.
  • Assessing risk – in relation to working practices and running activities.
  • Exploring the boundaries of information sharing, confidentiality and consent.
  • Good practice in record keeping.
  • Professional boundaries and behaviours.
  • Procedures for responding to allegations against church officers.

Please Note:

  • If you do not confirm cancellation of your booking 2 working days before the training event you may be charged a £12 cancellation fee.
  • If you are unable to attend and wish for a colleague to come along instead of you this will need to be confirmed with the safeguarding team at least 2 working days before the training event.
  • The minimum number of participants for each group will be 15. In cases where there are fewer than 15 participants the Safeguarding team may cancel this event and give notice to all those who were due to attend. We aim to cancel as few events as possible.
  • The course is interactive – expect to participate in a variety of small group exercises.
  • We are sorry, but this course is not suitable for children or pets.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Is there public transport near the event?

  • Church Bus Stop is a 3 minute walk from the venue

Is there car parking near the event?

  • There is a car park next to the church, which is accessed from the lane behind Linsell's General Store & Post Office - otherwise parking is on the street, further down Station Road.

Facilities for those who require additional support:

  • There is a 900mm wide slab pathway from the carpark to the front door of the church. Whilst the gradient is within disability guidelines, it is nevertheless a steady slope over quite a distance. However, we would be happy for a disabled driver to drive up the slope to the small area in front of the church, where there is room to park a couple of cars, and the hall can then be accessed through the church
  • The doorways are all wide enough for wheelchair access.
  • There is a fully equipped toilet for those with disabilities.

Is lunch provided?

  • Refreshments will be provided, but you will need to bring your own lunch.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

  • If you are unable to attend and wish for a colleague to come along instead of you, this will need to be confirmed with the safeguarding team 48 hours before the event by contacting safeguarding@chelmsford.anglican.org or 01254 294438.

What can I do if I am unable to attend this training date?

  • If this day is not possible for you, there are other sessions in other Archdeaconries that you are welcome to book a place on. All available training events are advertised on the Safeguarding Training page on the Diocesan website http://www.chelmsford.anglican.org/safeguarding/training

If you have any problems or further queries please contact the Safeguarding Team at safeguarding@chelmsford.anglican.org or 01254 294438
