Event description

Description

On July 25, 2016, the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development of the University of Reading and the Participatory Communication Research Section of the International Association for Media and Communication Research, in association with Grupo Pértiga and the Walker Institute will host a one-day event about communication for development. Be part of this skills-building and dialogue-focussed meeting with renowned international experts.

Choose from three interesting workshops:

- "Communication for Development Sourcebook", a new communication for development teaching tool created by the FAO, presented by Mario Acunzo (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations).

- “Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture” (PICSA), a new approach to working with communities to interpret climate data, presented by Dr. Graham Clarkson and Dr. Peter Dorward (University of Reading).

- “Latin American studies of communication, media and development: What is that?”, a critical workshop presented by Dr. Florencia Enghel (Stockholm University).

In the afternoon, Ros Cornforth of the Walker Institute will introduce the communication platform The African Climate Change (AFCLIX).

Sarah Cardey (University of Reading) and Elske Van de Fliert (University of Queensland), from the Global Research Initiative on Rural Communication (GRI-RC) will facilitate a critical dialogue about development communication.

The day will finish with a stimulating keynote dialogue about the future of development communication.

There will be an opportunity to continue networking and socializing at a local pub at the close of the conference.

REGISTER NOW and don’t miss the opportunity for stimulating dialogue and networking.
