Join Jewdas and the Jewish Socialists' Group for a Rosh Hashanah dinner in honour of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street.
Historian David Rosenberg will give a presentation about the events of the 4th October 1936, in which local east end residents, communists and anti-fascists stood together in defiance, and prevented the British Union of Fascists from marching down Cable Street, then a predominantly Jewish area.
Other speakers to be confirmed.
We will do some of the fun bits of the traditional Rosh Hashanah schtik, and lots more non traditional bits. Dinner will be potluck, so please bring a dish to share if you can.
Music from yiddish superstars Rokhl and the Flan, alongside our very special guests Daniel Kahn and Geoff Berner.
Tickets are £4 on the door, £3 in advance, or you can get a Jewdas High Holydays double ticket, in advance for £11 (full price for both = £14) . This ticket also covers our Yom Kippur Ball, taking place at Limehouse Town Hall on the 8th October.
