Event description

Description

This year the Deepbridge Chester Arts Fair is delighted to be holding a charity art auction hosted by BBC TV antiques and art expert David Harper with 100% of the proceeds going to the Countess Charity, Memory Lane Project.

The Countess Charity launched its Memory Lane project back in September with support from the Mollington Banastre Hotel. The project has a target of £190,000 to enhance the environment on wards 50/51 that specialise in care for the elderly. Assisting in their privacy and dignity at all times whilst in the care of the Countess of Chester Hospital, allowing independence and a sense of self, during what can be a long and worrying stay in hospital.

The project will provide an area to walk in – memory lane – that will be stimulating for patients and have a lounge and a garden at the end of it. There is not a lot of quiet space in the busy Countess Hospital and this project will create areas of quiet and peace.

Lesley Woodhead, Head of Fundraising at the Countess of Chester Hospital commented “We are excited that artists have donated generously to raise funds for The Memory Lane Project. Pieces from award-winning artists including Frances Ackland-Snow, Jody Craddock and Carne Griffiths will be on sale”.

The auction will begin at 4.30pm on Friday 16th November 2018, with wine on arrival and artwork from talented artists including David Harper, Jody Craddock, Carne Griffiths, Nel Whatmore, Liz Ellis, Frances Ackland-Snow & James Buttifant. After the auction, continue your evening by joining the Chester Art Fair Preview Evening, giving you the chance to meet artists and network with local businesses. Free parking is avalible at the racecourse.
