Event description
Cafe Research is an opportunity for current Doctoral Researchers to talk about their research to their peers in an informal setting.

About this event

5.00pm GMT

This event will typically feature two or three postgraduate researchers from across the university, who will describe their research in a manner that can be easily understood by people from outside their discipline.

The Doctoral College Poster Winner 2021 - Emily Harper "Chronoradiotherapy: reducing radiotherapy side effects by using the body's clock"

Previous attendees have commented:

"Having attended a few public events at Leicester University I spotted the Cafe Research title in the events listing. It appealed because it involved a number of researchers speaking and you did not know the subject matter in advance"

"This was a really interesting and exciting opportunity to summarise key points of research and introduce it to people who maybe haven't ever thought about the topic before"

This is for members with a University of Leicester email address and access will not work without one.

If you are a Postgraduate Researcher you must book through mypgr.le.ac.uk and not Eventbrite for this event to be attached to your portfolio. This event will be on Microsoft Teams.

The Doctoral College ensures that as a research student, supervisor, a researcher on a grant-funded research post or indeed, as a lecturer on your first academic post, you work in a well-supported, high quality research training environment.

Teas and Coffees as always are available for this virtual event; its your home after all 😉 But why not try making an Iced Latte for the event:

Ingredients: 2 espresso shots (60ml), 2 tsp sugar, honey or maple syrup (to taste), ice, 100ml whole milk

Method: STEP 1 Mix the hot espresso with the sugar until it dissolves. STEP 2 Fill a glass with ice and stir in the sweetened coffee. STEP 3 Pour over the milk and stir until combined.

Or if you are more of an Iced Tea fan:

Ingredients: 4 teabags, 1 tbsp sugar (optional), 1-2 lemons, sliced, mint sprigs, to serve, ice cubes, to serve

Method: STEP 1 Add the teabags, sugar (if using) and half the lemon slices (reserving the rest to serve) to a large heatproof jug or pitcher. Pour over 1ltr just boiled water and leave to steep for 5 mins. STEP 2 Stir well, then discard the teabags and lemon slices and allow to cool to room temperature before transferring to the fridge to chill. The tea will keep for 2-3 days covered in the fridge. STEP 3 When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice and the remaining lemon slices. Pour in the chilled tea and garnish with a sprig of mint.
