Cairngorm Hill Climb 2025

CBNSC are proud to be hosting the annual Cairngorm Hill Climb on Sunday 14th September 2025 All information regarding the race is below. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

There will be NO ENTRY on the day - No exceptions. As it is a full weekend of racing with races in Huntly on the 13th of September and then our races on the Sunday, entries will close at midnight on Thursday 11th of September 2025 to allow for seeding and any changes that need to be made. On the day of the event, please note sign in and bib collection closes half an hour before race.

If you have family /friends who are going to be staying to spectate and would be willing to volunteer for marshalling or time keep please let us know. Due to the nature of the race and its location, without volunteers the event will not be able to go ahead.

There is now a public bus running to Cairngorm Mountain. The timing of this bus will effect the senior race slightly. As always we will wait for this bus to pass before setting the first racer off. Please do also note that this is a guide for timings and is subject to change.

Cairngorm Mountain no longer has roadside parking and parking is only available at the senior finish in the Cairngorm Mountain carpark.

A t the end of last year's race we had complaints / concerns from members of the public regarding the safety of skiers skiing back down to the Hayfield. To ensure that we can carry on with the event each year, we need to address these concerns. Skiing back down in any form will not be permitted. Your health and safety is still the responsibility of the race organisers. If you require transport and do not have it, let us know in advance so we can arrange a car share. Alternatively if you require your car to be at the top and have noone with you, please also let us know to arrange someone to bring you back to the start,

CBNSC race team will be risk assessing the road prior to the event to ensure that the road will be safe to use. We, as always reserve the right to cancel at short notice if needed if circumstances are beyond our control and for the safety of the participants and general public.

All races start at the Hayfield, Novice finish point is the bridge (1.3km), U12 and U14 finish point is the forestry track (2.25km), U16 & U18 finish point is the Ciste car park (3.1km) and Super Vet, Vet and Senior finish is the Cas car park (5.4km). We are running on a very tight schedule and it is very important that entrants arrive on time and are ready to start at the scheduled time. We are trying to avoid peak public traffic on the road heading up to Cairngorm Mountain.

Failure to do so may result in you not being allowed to compete and no refund will be given.

The Novice category is open to newer skiers, HOWEVER as the race is held on an open road, skiers must be able to fully control their direction and stay to the left side of the road. If in doubt speak to your club coach or the race organiser before entering.

• Skis must meet FIS roller ski rules as summarised below

o Must be commercially available

o Maximum wheel diameter 100mm

o Wheels must have a minimum of 530mm between centres of axles

o Ski poles must be used

o Skis must be fitted with cross-country bindings

Prize giving will take place after the race, back down on the Hayfield or at Glenmore Lodge. This will be advised on the day.
