Calderdale Bootstrap 2017

Many people are coming to realise that a new economics is not only possible, but essential. We're bringing together our community with the movers and shakers in the emerging alternative solidarity economy.

Calderdale Bootstrap is a
two-part afternoon and evening event - a celebration, networking and learning experience around the current and future Solidarity Economy of Calderdale and Beyond.

Afternoon session, 1pm till 5pm

  • Inspiring speakers, including:Andy Goldring, Permaculture Association
  • Jonathan Atkinson, Carbon Co-op
  • Kat Darling, Institute of Solidarity Economics
  • representatives of local social enterprises Pennine Community Power, The Fox and Goose and Fairmondo UK
  • ...and many more representatives of the new economy in action.



Followed by a locally sourced meal provided by community chef - Kath Baker of Peas and Love Catering



Evening session

An entertaining evening introduced by the inspiring Rob Hopkins of the Transition Network where you will hear about the exciting plans of five local social enterprises, and as part of "The Community of Dragons", help support their development in a variety of interesting ways.


6.30pm till late.

The Town Hall will be providing a bar.

Who is this event for?

This event is designed to be suitable for anyone; from someone just interested in finding out more about how we might organise and deliver our next economy; through to those exploring ideas around new enterprise and livelihoods; to those already active and working in the new economy. Alternatively, you might live locally and want to come along and give your support to budding new social enterprises, as a member of our 'Community of Dragons'. It's about bringing all these people together and seeing what happens.

Can I pitch my business idea to the "Community of Dragons"?

We are currently recruiting the enterprises to pitch, so please get in touch with us at calderbootstrap@gmail.com

Do I have to come to all sections of the event?

You are very welcome to come to all of it, but each section is ticketed separately if you are unable to.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No we will have a list of attendees

What if i want to come but can't afford a ticket?

Just get in touch with us at calderbootstrap@gmail.com and we'll sort it.

What is the Solidarity Ticket option?

If you are unable to attend but would like to support our work or subsidise a free place, then you can still buy a soldarity ticket and be part of it. You can buy as many as you like and pay what you feel.
