Event description

Description

Early in December, ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ came to the Piece Hall in Halifax and announced the route for the Tour de Yorkshire 2018. They confirmed that on Sunday 6th May the Piece Hall will start the 118-mile Stage 4 (day 4) of the race, nicknamed ‘The Yorkshire terrier’.

After leaving the Piece Hall the route will first take in parts Halifax town centre before travelling out to Luddendenfoot and Mytholmroyd.

The Yorkshire Terrier will be the most hilly of all the stages – featuring difficult terrain, and including six ‘Categorised Climbs’.

The first of these will be in Calderdale as the route ascends from Hebden Bridge to Oxenhope.

This prominent role in the 2018 race represents a tremendous opportunity for Calderdale, once again, to showcase internationally its beautiful natural landscape, and will provide a tourism boost not just for the duration of the race, but will leave a legacy to our visitor-economy which will continue for years to come.

Our Special Guests will provide the meeting with many more details about this wonderful event, and they will suggest how local businesses can play a major role in creating a ‘Shop-Window for Calderdale’ which will foster lasting and improved economic prosperity for the whole region.

The Chairman will open the meeting to a Q&A session. This will provide all present with a unique opportunity to engage with our Speakers, to ask questions, to have them answered and to participate in a wider debate.
