Event Details

Can you help us bring hundreds more empty Leeds homes back into use?  Then please join us and Channel 4's George Clarke at our Call To Action.

We'll be joined by two of the country's leading campaigners in the world of empty homes - George Clarke  - the man behind Channel 4's The Great British Property Scandal and David Ireland from Empty Homes.

You'll also hear from Leeds City Council's Chief Executive Tom Riordan, and Cllr Peter Gruen, Executive Member for Neighbourhoods, Housing and Regeneration.

And there'll be plenty of time to get into more detail - with two hours before lunch given over to small groups - led by organisations including LATCH, Canopy, Ecology Building Society, Leeds City Council and LiveWise.

There'll also be the opportunity to have a tour of our host venue Greenhouse - an imaginative, green redevelopment of a 1930s-build hostel which had been empty for a number of years.  CITU, the developers behind Greenhouse, have very kindly offered to host our Call To Action free of charge.

After a delicious, street-food lunch, we'll have an auction of promises - the chance for local businesses to pledge support - time, materials, skills and more - to help us bring lots more empty homes back into use.

We'd love you to join us.  Please sign up above - or read more about our Call To Action at www.leedsempties.org.uk

A bit more about us.

Social Business Brokers is a Leeds-based social enterprise, run by Rob Greenland and Gill Coupland.  We're experimenting this year to try to find more effective ways to support the development of socially innovative approaches to some of the big issues we face as a city.

This Call to Action is part of that experiment.  As it's an experiment - with no money behind it - we can't make any promises about what will happen next.   But we're pretty confident that the day will stimulate some new ideas, bring plenty of people together, and that good things will happen as a result.
