About this event
Spend a relaxed afternoon creating beautiful, hand-painted cards combining loose watercolour florals and illustrations with flowing modern calligraphy and fineliner detail.
I’ll guide you step-by-step through:
✦ Easy watercolour techniques for painting flowers, foliage, and whimsical details like butterflies, moths and bees✦ How to add elegant brush lettering to bring your cards to life✦ Tips for layout, colour, and composition so your designs feel balanced and eye-catching
Perfect for those wanting to combine watercolours and calligraphy into thoughtful, personalised designs.
I’ll guide you through each step, but we won’t be covering the calligraphy basics - this workshop is ideal if you already have some beginner brush calligraphy skills. Great even if you don’t have much experience with watercolours.
This is a 'pay what you can' class, allowing you to choose the amount you're comfortable paying.
Upon booking, you'll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link, so you can join us from the comfort of your own home.
A REPLAY OF THE CLASS WILL BE AVAILABLE IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT LIVE - You can watch and create whenever it suits you.
TOOLS YOU’LL NEED FOR THIS CLASS:Watercolours - you can use any paints you like. I love this Van Gogh palette as well as this Gansai Tambi paint set.Watercolour paper - try to go for good quality paper, 250 - 300gsm weight if possible. I love this Winsor and Newton paper pad. Brushes - Round pointed brushes will be the best. If possible have a few different sizes ready, maybe a size 6, 8 and 10. This is my all time favourite brush - you’ll be able to paint most elements in this size.2 pots of waterA pencil, eraser and rulerPaper towelA mixing palette - plastic or ceramic, you can also use a ceramic plate.Fine tip brush pens - I recommend Pentel Brush Sign Pens in black (+ any other colours you’d like to use)A fineliner penGold watercolours to add a bit of sparkle (optional) - I love Coliro Pearlcolours but any other ones will be ok too.
