Event description

Description

Anxiety is now the biggest mental health issue affecting Scottish teenagers. And it doesn't just affect the teenager, it affects everyone who cares for that teenager; parents, siblings, teachers and anyone else who wants the best for them.

Teenage anxiety has a direct link to self harm, addiction issues, behavioural difficulties, trouble at school, friendship and social issues and, without the right tools, parents, teachers and anyone that works with teenagers regularly can feel powerless to help, support and make it better.

It doesn’t need to be like that.

The teenage mind is not as complex as it may first appear. From the outside looking in, the teenage brain behaves like a complex, bizarre, entirely random generator of bad choices! But we promise it isn’t! It is much more simple than that.

Inside every teenager there are two huge questions that influence every decision that teenager makes. As parents, it is our job to make sure they get the right answers.

In this intriguing, informative and fun talk, Trainer, Speaker, Teen Expert and author of Cracking The Teen Code, Brian Costello will take you through the building blocks of creating a teenager, help you decode what’s going on right now so that you can understand the internal processes driving them to do crazy things and then show you how you already have everything you need to help steer them back on to a path that, even though you may not believe us, they aren’t as far away from as you think.

In these fascinating 2 hours you will be expertly guided to understand;

  • Why everything changes when they hit high school
  • The 2 Teen Questions that change everything about how teenagers behave
  • How to make change happen using psychology rather than discipline
  • How fear often disguises itself and why there is no point in getting mad at it
  • The simple change to your thinking that creates calm from chaos

This is a jam-packed two hours and it is the perfect workshop for parents, teachers*, youth workers, Classroom Assistants and anyone who wants to understand the teenage mind better. It is also 100% suitable for teenagers although please be aware that there may be some adult language involved at times during the workshop.

Calming Teenage Anxiety is on the 9th September 2019 and runs from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the lovely Village Hotel located in Glasgow's developing Quayside on the South Side of the River Clyde. The Village has loads of free parking and is walking distance from Kinning Park Station and slightly further walk from the Exhibition Station. The venue has a Starbucks on site and therefore you can arrive early and be well looked after.

Tickets are only £10 for adults and £5 for teenagers which means you can change your whole family for about the same price as a cinema trip. We don’t have popcorn but we do have plenty of free parking at the hotel.

We hope to see you there and give you everything you need to start putting things back together.

*Teachers: this is 2 hours of CPD!
