Description

Join us for a rare opportunity to view a display of Hughes Hall's rare books from the Ohtake Collection, specially curated by our new Deputy Librarian Catherine Munford for the Alumni Festival Weekend!

We will be serving welcome tea, coffee and cakes in the Pfeiffer Room from 11am until noon, with groups invited to view the display at 11:00, 11:20 and 11:40. While we hope you will enjoy the opportunity to catch-up with fellow alumni from 11:00, please register for one of these time slots to view the collection.

The Collection:

Professor Masatsugu Ohtake of Waseda University is an authority on the First World War poet Edward Thomas and was was elected to an Honorary Fellowship of Hughes Hall in 1996. Over the past two decades Professor Ohtake has generously presented the College with rare fine-press editions, including material relating to Edward Thomas and Ted Hughes. The Ohtake Collection now forms the bulk of the College’s Rare Books Collection, housed in the secure, humidity controlled rare books and archives room of the Library.
