After last years success, we had to throw the event again. Come and join in a fun night of talking coffee, drinking (be it coffee or alcoholic) and coffee competitions.
We are doing 3 main events this year; a latte art knockout, filter brewing and a cupping competition.
The latte art comp is pretty straight forward. Two competitors battle it out to pour the best pattern, the winner goes through to the next round and the other being knocked out. This then filters down until we have 2 people in the final.
*In all heats, except the final, a latte art dice will be rolled to decide which pattern both competitors must pour e.g. a tulip. Competitors must pour a pattern of that description, e.g. tulip, steaming silky smooth milk, maximum definition of pattern (clear brown straight to white, no fade) and as technical as you can manage e.g. a 4 layer tulip is more technical than a 3 layer tulip. This is how you will be judged. In the final, you can pour any pattern you may choose however, the same judging criteria will be applied.
The patterns that could come up on the dice are; heart, rosetta, tulip, swan, pheonix, wave (around the outside) heart (central).

For the filter brewing contest, this will follow a similar style to the aeropress championship. Each competitor can bring their own brewing device and coffee (ingredients must only be coffee and water), which they will then brew off against 2 other people (6 minutes to brew). The coffee's will then be blind tasted and the coffee tasting the best will go through to the final to brew against another 2 finalists. We can provide (if needed) hot water and a grinder (EK43), you will need to provide the rest.
Places available: 9
For the final competition, cupping. We are going to do it slightly differently this year, instead of a triangulation, we are going to line up 5 coffee's, each competitor will then have 3 minutes to memories the order of the coffee's. They then turn around, we mess the order up, then they have 3 minutes to then put them back in order. A point for each one correct. There will hopefully be a straight winner from this, if not, then we will provide a sudden death round of the same.
Places available: 6
There will be great prizes up for grabs, as well as alcoholic refreshments and snacks.
Anyone is welcome to come along and watch, free (don't need to register, just turn up).
If you want to compete then please register for the competition(s) you would like to enter (free).
We look forward to seeing you.
