KINGDOM THEOLOGY EVENT - 21st Marchkte PAGE BANNER

Theme: Standing Together: Praise, Worship & Lament in the Church

For much of the contemporary church, worship is nearly synonymous with praise. But the conflation of praise and worship, and accompanying expectations of happiness, can leave us spiritually diminished when we go through hard times, or when we as a church intercede for others in distress. Lacking lament can even rob us of praise. In this Kingdom Theology Event Matt will explore what the Bible teaches about praise and lament, and how bringing them together can greatly enrich the church's life of worship.

Speaker: Dr Matthew Lynch

Matt teaches Old Testament and serves as Academic Dean at WTC. Matt is the author of Monotheism and Institutions in the Book of Chronicles (Mohr Siebeck, 2014) and various articles on the Old Testament. He also co-hosts a podcast on biblical studies (onscript.study) and blogs regularly at theologicalmisc.net. Matt is particularly interested in helping students grasp the theological and literary contours of the Old Testament, wrestle through its ethical and historical challenges, and understand its ongoing significance. Matt is married and has two children.
