About Stephen Waller

Stephen Waller is a full-time professional photographer with more than 25 years of experience in the industry. He covers a wide range of subjects for a broad mix of clients within the commercial, press and events genres, with sports event coverage being a constant throughout his career.

Based in Felixstowe, on the East Anglian coast, Stephen has travelled the country shooting the Ipswich Witches speedway team as well as covering many other sports, including Ipswich Town Football Club. His career has seen him transition from film to digital and onto mirrorless, and he currently shoots with Sony cameras and lenses. Whilst being predominantly stills-based, Stephen also shoots video and utilises drones within many of his projects.

His first experience with shooting Sony came in late 2015 when he was upgrading his remote cameras, and after settling on a pair of A6000 cameras, he was impressed by their performance and began taking an interest in what the brand was producing. In 2018, he decided to buy an A9 and was instantly won over. He felt the performance exceeded what he was shooting with at the time, at a competitive price point and within a year, he had sold off most of his DSLRs and lenses to become a Sony shooter.

During the transition, Stephen met Mark Baber, Event & Content Manager for Sony UK Photo Channel, with the pair teaming up last year for a series of live webinars, talking about the photographer's career and his journey to Sony.

Motorsports are a real test for camera equipment, and Stephen will be on hand at this event to share advice and settings on getting the best from shooting with Sony.
