Description

Hélia Correia, a critically acclaimed contemporary Portuguese novelist, playwright, poet and children’s writer, is a Camões Prize laureate (2015), the most prestigious award for Literature in Portuguese.

Other laureates, representing the diverse Lusophone world, include authors such as Pepetela (Angola), Mia Couto (Mozambique), Rachel de Queiroz (Brazil) and José Saramago (Portugal). Her subtle blend of Magical Realism and Romanticism has received critical acclaim both nationally and internationally.

Amongst her most famous works are the novels O Número dos Vivos (1982), Montedemo (1983), and Lillias Fraser (2001).
