About this event

As charities, we work with communities facing the reality of politics and policy change. So part of our job is to speak up for and with those communities, to influence the policies that affect their lives.

Charity law is clear that this is often a justified and important way to meet our charitable aims – but there are limitations and rules to make sure charities are acting in good faith, independently and within their charitable purpose.

This session will cover some of the basics of charity law with regard to political activity and campaigning, with examples from a Youth Access member, so that you, your team and your Trustees, can feel confident in taking action locally and as part of the Youth Access community, on the political issues that will make a difference to the young people you serve.

Who should attend?

  • Staff working with young people who want to campaign and take social action.
  • Managers and leaders who want to embed campaigning and political influencing into their local model
  • Trustees who want to ensure any political activity is within the remit of charity law
