Event description

Description

During January and February 2020, a group of over 100 healthcare professionals (including 40 GPs) have taken part in a 28 day plant based challenge so that they could personally experience the effects of a change of diet on their lives.

Come along to this event to find out the results of the challenge and how it has affected weight, blood pressure and cholesterol of participants, as well as mood, energy levels, and how they think about diet when supporting patients.

We'll also be sharing our plans for taking this project forward in the Coastal Locality (Teignmouth and Dawlish) so that more people can feel the benefits of a healthier diet, as well as becoming more active, and more involved with the local community - with the hope of improving the health and wellbeing of our whole community.

Speaking at the event will be local consultant gastroenterologist, Dr Alan Desmond, Coastal Primary Care Network Clinical Director, Dr Jenny Corser, and The Happy Pear, celebrity plant based chefs who are travelling over especially from Ireland for the event!

Spaces at this FREE event (which has been kindly funded by Devon Training Hub) are very limited so please book your tickets early to avoid disappointment! Donations welcomed for Volunteering in Health, a local charity which supports people to make positive and sustainable changes to their health and wellbeing, to take this project forward. Online donations can be made here.
