Can Beavers Save The World?
Join us at Totnes Civic Hall for an event exploring the incredible impact beavers can have on our environment.
Rob Hopkins will be in conversation with Rebecca Wrigley of Rewilding Britain and Chris Jones from the Cornwall Beaver Project.
With the UK government finally licencing beavers into UK rivers and landscapes, join us to be enchanted and enthralled by these incredible creatures and how they can positively transform our landscape.
Don't miss this chance to find out how beavers could be the key to saving the world!
Why are beavers amazing?
“The explosion of nature in our valleys and our streams has been phenomenal. There’s nothing like reintroducing beavers that we could have done ourselves that would have been approaching this in terms of effect. We’re surrounded by water and greenness and life. It’s this abundance that we need to be fostering”.
Chris Jones
Last month, in a remarkable case of nature outsmarting bureaucracy, a beaver colony in the Czech Republic built dams which effectively completed a long-stalled, $1.2 million dam project that authorities had been planning for years, saving the government significant costs. It took the beavers about 2 days to do what engineers had failed to achieve in 7 years.
