THE NCF LONDON CONFERENCE - From Demographics to ULEZ: Can London Be Saved?
London, our great World City and nation’s capital, is changing at phenomenal speed. In the 60 years from 1961 to 2021, London’s white British population has declined from 97% to 37%. Such rapid demographic change in a capital city is unprecedented. Can the tide be reversed? Is integration possible? If not, what next? Is it too late?
The past has been distorted, what will the future bring? London is still a place of vibrant
culture but it is increasingly divided, with people of different cultures living parallel lives.
What will our children inherit? At schools they are taught history in a 'selective' manner; at Universities, the Centre Right of Politics is barely represented.
Is London still London if the inhabitants no longer share any collective memory of what came before?
Is ULEZ a huge con?
Have the British lost self-confidence?
These and other questions will be answered by the speakers we have brought together
to share hopes, beliefs, concerns.
