Event Details

Our MEP Alexandra Phillips (the lady on left, earlier this year - near Chichester Railway Station) is touring SE England in an electric bus to promote the Green New Deal. On Monday 28th October she visits Chichester where she will join a Panel in the Assembly Room, chaired by Heather Barrie. The Panel will start at 6 p.m. Please prepare a few questions for Alex.

Our Panelists are

Cllr Heather Barrie (Chair),

Alexandra Phillips (special guest to explain and promote The Green New Deal),

Cllr Kevin Hughes Labour - East Chichester Ward. a member of Labour for a Green New Deal.

Graham Howe:  10 years experience in Offshore wind energy generation. He will join us at 6.15 due to work commitments

Cllr Jonathan Brown  - Lib-Dem Southbourne.
We launched a major policy paper in September, based upon two years of work which itself based upon lessons learned from the Green New Deal process.

Kay Mawer - Clothkits

We also hope Michael Neville, George Hibberd and Diana Morgan will participate

I have booked the Assembly Room from 5 till 10 p.m.

Please arrive early to visit the various tabletop displays from local campaign and eco groups.

From around 8 p.m. we will have an open mic session, looking forward to hearing from our friends returning from London XR Campaign and a range of Local issues and forthcoming events.

From around 9 p.m. some Chichester University Students have offered to come and play their music - I believe some very well-known folk songs will feature,  together with the opportunity to sing along.

provisionally:
5-6: Table Tops perusal and chat.
6-8: Panel Discussion
8-9: Table Tops + open Mic + mingle & chat
9-10: Table Tops + Chi Uni Musicians

MORE ABOUT THE GREEN NEW DEAL

As in past times of crises, disparate groups have come together to propose a new solution to an epochal challenge. The Green New Deal was designed to kick start a rapid transition to a new economy shaped to prevent a climate breakdown and transform a failed financial system. A Green New Deal will power a renewables revolution, create thousands of green-collar jobs and rein in the distorting power of the finance sector while making more low-cost capital available for pressing priorities.

Meeting since early 2007, the membership of the Green New Deal Group is drawn to reflect a wide range of expertise relating politics and economics, and the climate, nature and inequality crises.
