Description

Can we PREVENT dementia?

Leading scientists at Edinburgh think we can.

As our understanding of dementia develops, we now know that changes in the brain start well before symptoms. Genetics play a role, but we know that lifestyle factors in middle age also contribute to the development of diseases like Alzheimer's. Dementia is not a foregone conclusion and we can delay its onset, or even prevent it.

We invite you to join us for an informal information session about dementia research at the University of Edinburgh. Prof Craig Ritchie, Chair in Psychiatry of Ageing and Director of the Centre for Dementia Prevention, will outline the science behind dementia prevention and introduce our UK wide study, PREVENT, led here from Edinburgh.

Learn about the science of this emerging field, beyond sensationalist headlines in the press.

Speakers include Prof Craig Ritchie and government advisor and Alzheimer's scientist, Dr Tara Spires-Jones.
