Can we put the 'Z' in EV's?
Tue 24 January 2017, 13:00 – 18:00 GMT
The continual drive to stop global warming and improve the air quality in our cities is creating a quantum shift transport propulsion solutions. Hybrid and Electric vehicles are now being manufactured by all the world’s leading automakers, the Nissan LEAF is rapidly approaching 200,000 vehicle sales and Tesla has just taken pre-orders for 400,000 of their model 3 car.
But we have to be certain that these new technologies really are delivering a more sustainable future than the technologies they will replace. How recyclable are the Lithium Ion battery packs we are using to drive our vehicles and what is the cost of mining the rare earth elements required to maximise the efficiency of current motor technologies? Do we understand the future energy mix that will generate electricity across the globe and how local variations might affect the impact on climate change that EV’s will have and how do we decide between Hydrogen and batteries?
Hear a panel of world experts discuss their vision of the future for electric vehicles and debate the likely outcomes at the world famous Royal Institution lecture theatre where Michael Faraday first demonstrated the electric motor.
This free event is open to all interested in both the debate and helping shape the future. Join us on 24th January between 13:00 and 17:00 at 21 Albemarle Street, London, W1S 4BS to get involved.
