Event description

Description

In partnership with Northamptonshire poetry collectives Scriptstuff Poetry and Danetree Verse, this edition is on the theme of war and peace.

From wartime to peacetime, there'll be numerous pieces discussing different things. From the world wars to Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Falklands etc - to the Liverpool Race Riots of 1919, racial tension at the front during WW1 and WW2, colonial soldiers, The Suffragettes / Suffragists and even the anti-war poem.

The next edition of Can You Poet will feature a variety of poems under the banner of war and peace, featuring a guest speaker (TBC) and Mike Took's Big Poetry Quiz (as is the tradition at Scriptstuff), in addition to the poets of Daventry, including Maggi Evans, the host of Dane Tree Verse (normally last Thursday of every month).

War. Peace. At war with ourselves? Conflict out in No-Man's Land? Peace of mind?

All will be revealed on November 28, hosted by Corby's own Michael 'Spike' Pike - and Usama Anwar, a Finance and Accounting student at the University of Northampton.

If you are driving, you must register your car here to park. Do so at least 24 hours before you aim to arrive to avoid disappointment.
