About this event

Giovanni Antonio Canal, better known as 'Canaletto', was Venice's leading 'vedutista', the Italian word for view painter. It is fair to say that he immortalised Venice in paint at a time when Venice was not merely the most serene but also one of the most exciting and culturally sophisticated cities in the world. Canaletto's exquisitely rendered views detailing the far from humdrum daily lives of the citizenry pay homage to this iconic city.
