Diagnostics North East Conference 2020: Precision Medicine – Basic Science, Diagnostics and Therapeutics

Thursday 30 April 2020
St James Park, Newcastle upon Tyne

The conference programme can be viewed here:  https://diagnosticsnortheast.org.uk/event-programme/

Diagnostics North East provides timely and seamless services to support both industry and academia in the diagnostic sector.

Diagnostics North East is an initiative to bring together the various research infrastructures, capabilities and resources that map to the development, research and innovation of diagnostic technologies. It is available to both academic and commercial partners. As a single cohesive structure this leads to greater efficiencies, more visibility and greater opportunities to improve patient health and wellbeing through a common vision and a common approach.

On behalf of Diagnostics North East, a partnership between the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria, The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University, are organising the ‘Diagnostics North East Conference 2020’ focussing on the development, evaluation and adoption of technologies into healthcare systems.

The conference will be held at St James’ Park (the home of Newcastle United), on the 30th April 2020 and will include keynote speakers as well as interactive group sessions with key experts. The aim of the conference is to showcase the diagnostic resources and expertise available to support researchers, clinicians, and industry in developing and deploying new and innovative diagnostic technologies.

The event will provide opportunities to meet with key experts and to discuss how they can support the development, evaluation and adoption of technologies into healthcare systems. The event will provide the delegates with the information they need to partner and exploit the world-class resources available.

Previous conferences have attracted over 200 delegates from industry, academia, clinical researchers, regulatory and funding bodies as well as adoption agencies. Industry professionals will have the platform to:

•           Network with partners on key issues and challenges in developing diagnostics

Engage with panels of experts who will inform, challenge and stimulate debate

Acquire the latest updates on adopting diagnostics into healthcare systems and new developments including regulatory and assessment programmes

‘Diagnostics North East Conference 2020’ will provide companies with the perfect channel to reach the diagnostic community and we are delighted to be able to provide industry partners with the opportunity to be part of this major scientific event.

The event will provide opportunities to meet with key experts and to discuss how they can support the development, evaluation and adoption of technologies into healthcare systems. Delegates will leave with all the information they need to partner and exploit the world-class resources available.

The conference programme can be viewed here:  https://diagnosticsnortheast.org.uk/event-programme/

For attendees with a serious interest in establishing operations in the North East – to benefit from proximity to local facilities, assets and our diagnostics ecosystem – we are partnering with Invest Newcastle [https://investnewcastle.com/] to offer a fully-hosted delegate experience, which will include a longer programme of introductions, talks and tours to understand the business opportunity in the area and support available to locate your business here. Please contact Matt.Bratton@ngi.org.uk for further information.

Diagnostic Test Evaluations Workshop: The Pathway of Evidence Generation

Registration is open for the “Diagnostic Test Evaluations Workshop: The Pathway of Evidence Generation” on the 29th April 2020 from 1-5 pm at the Newcastle Helix, NE4 5TF.  This workshop is hosted by the NIHR Newcastle In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative (Newcastle MIC) and is tailored to individuals from industry, academia and healthcare who have an interest in developing diagnostic clinical tests and devices.  We aim to educate attendees about the evidence they need to generate in order for their diagnostics to have the best chance of being adopted into the UK healthcare system. Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet with the NIHR Newcastle MIC and our collaborators and discuss the support we can provide during these research steps.
